Great Time at Bingo!!

The Hill House Museum Bingo fundraiser last evening was a fantastic success. We would like to thank Cure Coffee House for providing the wonderful venue, delicious food, and excellent service. Their support contributed to the overall positive experience.

A big thanks to the businesses who donated the great prizes and the wonderful people who came to show their support.  (A good time was had by all).  Of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication and efforts of the volunteers who worked to make the fundraiser a success.

Events like this show the power of community and how working together can achieve great things. Congratulations to everyone involved, and here's to many more successful fundraisers in the future!  Thanks again to everyone’s efforts and support of the Hill House Museum.

Special Visitors

Yesterday was a busy day at the Hill House Museum, among the guests we had two special visitors.   The mayor of Portsmouth, Shannon Glover, stopped by to view the photo exhibit and listen to the tunes of Ruth Brown, Portsmouth native and “Queen of R&B”, re-enacted by Inez Randolph.

Also, Sandra Sharpe, a Hill family descendant, was visiting the area from Northern VA and has not been to the museum in over 40 years.  She was able to reconnect with her family tree and with excitement she toured the museum creating new memories.

Celebrating our volunteers!!!!

Through our volunteer efforts, the Hill House Museum is able to showcase to the community Portsmouth’s only historic house museum.  The selfless spirit of our volunteers allows for many countless hours of dedication in-turn strengthening the fabric of our community.  The individual threads each volunteer weaves into making the Hill House Museum an opportunity to showcase this amazing historic treasure which is greatly appreciated and recognized during National Volunteer Week, April 16-22.

In fact, the current photo exhibit, Picture This!, would never have happened if it was not for the volunteers who put in many hours to make the exhibit such a huge success.   This is just one of the behind-the-scenes examples of how valuable our volunteers are in supporting the mission to preserve Portsmouth’s rich history for the public to enjoy.

If you have not visited the Picture This! photo exhibit or have heard everyone talking about it, stop by on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays noon-4:00 to tour the exhibit.  Also, when you visit the Hill House Museum one of our many volunteers will greet you at the door and make you feel like family.

Want to join our volunteer base?  We have many opportunities to match your interests and schedule!
